Research Topic

For my research, I have considered two important topics to discuss. First, I want to make it apparent that obesity is correlated with food availability and how close our local supermarkets are. Secondly, I would like to discuss how on average, the heathier food options tend to be pricier.


As you can see, I have attached two separate articles that I believe will be useful for my topic. The first article of Obesity Stigma discusses how Americans who are obese are blamed for their weight, when in reality, many factors come into play. They mainly focused on how people end up getting tied to these stigmas and don't know how to get out of them. Many don't understand that being obese comes with more  than just health issues. Being obese creates a lot of physiological problems that interfere with everyday life.  This data is extremely significant because it shows how difficult it is for people who are/do become obese. It is also significant because it makes the public more aware of the things we say to people who are obese. The second article that I looked at goes into depth about how close a supermarket is and how they price the items makes a big difference in how people in that community look. The complied a group of people from different income levels and educational levels are took a look at how they varied. Their findings show that people from lower incomes and less education were more obese. These results are extremely significant because they explain that healthier food options are sometimes out of the question. Also, it could explain why children end up obese, based upon the fact that their parents cant provide healthy foods for them. Both of the articles that I looked up dealt with a large group of people which I believe is very important for these types of study.

Hello Post with Audio File!

The picture above is of part of my research that I have started. It is an article that I found about the nutritional value of processed foods. I want to use this and tie it in with obesity. The link between these two things is extremely important in todays society and is a topic that I have a lot of interest in.
